Celebrate Black History Month: Discover Black-Owned Brands at The Store Collective
At the midway point in Black History Month, we’re excited to highlight the incredible Black-owned brands you can support through us all year round. Shopping Black-owned is about more than just products - it’s about celebrating diversity, culture, and creativity, while making a positive impact in communities. We’re proud to feature a range of talented makers who bring their unique stories and craftsmanship to everything they create. Here’s a look at some of the incredible Black-owned brands we work with:
ASHE London
We're incredibly proud to announce our newest collabaration - with ASHE London, a luxury nail colour brand with a conscience. ASHE London is a female-led company committed to diversity and social change, founded by Ashleigh Alli in 2021. Taking the hassle out of keeping your mani up-to-date, ASHE London polishes are released in seasonal collections that are carefully designed and curated by a small London team. The name of each shade is inspired by a different person who has changed the world. And the brand focusses on both giving back (a percentage of profits goes to good causes) and sustainability (their polishes are 74% plant based, vegan and cruelty free, as well as long lasting). Who knew you could feel so good about wearing nail polish?! Check our their new range for AW24 that's just dropped at The Store Collective HERE.
Oré mi
A brand we've worked with for a number of years is Oré mi. They create handmade lifestyle products with luxurious, lasting scents. Each one is made in London, and melds founder Karen Olla's Nigerian heritage with her upbringing in the UK, in a collection of warm, grounding and restorative scents. Their name, Oré mi, is an expression which means my friend in Yoruba. Most importantly, the brand was born out of her desire to break the taboo which surrounds the topic of mental health in the Black community. They share images & positive stories of a Black childhood, support and celebrate African lifestyle products and work with Black Minds Matter, a mental health charity. All Oré mi creations are designed to be safe, ethical, and friendly to the planet, using vegan-friendly soy wax, fine fragrance oils, reusable glass jars and recyclable packaging. Check them out HERE
Selfmade Candles
Selfmade Candles combine sustainability with stunning design, offering a range of vegan, eco-conscious candles that are hand-poured with love. Their founder Ricki's mission is to 'get lit, responsibly'. Their fragrances are crafted to transform your space and elevate your senses, all while being mindful of the planet through refill sets and plantable labels on all candle jars. Made with soy wax, essential oils and wood wicks - Selfmade Candles not only look and smell great but also reflect a commitment to eco-friendly luxury. They also believe in supporting their community and championing the importance of aromatherapy and self-care in wellness (and are another of our brands who work with Black Minds Matter). Triqis Design
Triqis is a design studio focused on creating exceptional homewares. Founded by two culturally diverse product designers Kwaku Boateng and Erwan Le Bozec, the duo has since grown into a team of designers and craftsmen in the UK who are focused on quality and sustainability. Their work has garnered well-deserved recognition, being published in highly esteemed publications such as Monocle (Top 25 Designs of 2023), Darc Magazine (Editors choice in 2023) and Conde Nast's World of Interiors 2024. As well as having been showcased at esteemed venues including the Design Museum and London Design Festival. They have also been named by Conde Nast in their 25 Rising Stars for 2024. Why Supporting Black-Owned Businesses Matters
By supporting Black-owned brands, you’re doing more than buying a product—you’re contributing to a movement. Your purchase helps build economic empowerment, encourage diversity, and ensure that the creativity and culture of Black makers continue to thrive. During Black History Month, it’s especially meaningful to choose brands that celebrate Black heritage, tradition, and entrepreneurial spirit.
However, at The Store Collective, we’re dedicated to amplifying the voices of independent Black-owned brands all year round, creating a platform where their stories and products can shine. So if you are a black owned business and would like to be stocked by us, feel free to get in touch at info@store-collective.co.uk.
